On Oct. 3, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 939 Hinman Ave., will host its sixth annual St. Francis Day Blessing of Animals. In keeping with traditions associated with the life of St. Francis and his love for all creatures, the focus of the event will be thanksgiving for companion animals.

The service, held inside the church from 10 to 11:15 a.m., will offer individual blessings of all animals present. The service will be followed by a street fair outside the church with exhibits and demonstrations by animal-related organizations.

The event is open to all, and pets (of any faith) and their people are warmly invited. Owners can bring photos of pets who would rather not go to church. Pets must be appropriately controlled.
