The 2010 Evanston Green Living Festival takes place Saturday, Oct. 2, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the City’s Ecology Center, featuring environmental and sustainable options designed to inspire residents to live green at home. Residents may purchase a rain barrel, check out the demonstrations, shop from almost 75 green home businesses and organizations, and learn from the keynote speaker.
The festival promotes this green lifestyle by providing a venue where local green vendors, exhibitors, and speakers can showcase their green products and services. Kids are welcome and attend an eco musical, check out student presentations, learn more about recycling, participate in a scavenger hunt, pet “critters”, or enjoy tasty food at a picnic table with their family.
The Annual Bike the Ridge ride will take place on Sunday, Oct. 3, between 9 a.m. and noon. Ridge Avenue between Howard and Church will be closed to all vehicular traffic while the event is in progress.
Bikes are not allowed on Ridge Avenue at any other time, so take advantage of this non-competitive, City-sponsored special event.
