A 22 year old Evanston man was shot to death in the 1400 block of Dodge Avenue at about 10 p.m. on Sept. 30. Once on scene, police determined that the victim, identified as Marcus T. Davis, had been shot multiple times, said Commander Tom Guenther in a prepared statement.

The investigation revealed that Mr. Davis had his vehicle serviced at Smitty’s Garage, located at 1422 Dodge Ave., and that he and another passenger were  backing his car out of the service drive. A lone gunman ran up to the driver’s side window and fired multiple gun shots into the vehicle. Several of these shots struck Mr. Davis. The passenger was not injured. The gunman fled the scene east bound on foot, said Commander Guenther.

At present, no suspects are in custody and the Evanston Police, with the assistance of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force, are actively investigating this case. Any citizens having information about this incident are encouraged to call the Evanston Police Department’s Detective Bureau, at 847-866-5040.
