How can we as parents, educators, and members of the larger community help change the culture around food in Evanston? Stephanie Fine will speak about the work of NURTURE, an organization which in two short years has launched successful programs focused on enjoying the pleasures of delicious, healthy, and inexpensive meals. NURTURE has worked with food pantries, Family Focus, the Infant Welfare Society of Evanston (WSE) and conducted cooking classes for all students at Dawes School last year. This school year NURTURE brings another program to Dewey Elementary focused on health and wellness for the whole family. Changing our fast food culture is a huge challenge and NURTURE’s successful community outreach offers lessons for us all. Following the speaker, join SAGE (Schools Are Gardening in Evanston/Skokie) and other community members in exploring how we can partner in building a healthier Evanston.
