Evanston, along with most of the Midwest, will be impacted by high winds until later this evening and possibly into Wednesday. Winds will range from 35 – 60 mph with gusts even greater.

Downed Trees
Due to anticipated heavy winds, the City of Evanston will be prioritizing tree and limb removals:

Hazardous situations:
• If a tree or limb is blocking a street or sidewalk, please call (847) 866-2912 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Outside of these hours; please call the Police non-emergency phone number, (847) 866-5000.

Non-hazardous situations
• Public trees: You may report a fallen parkway or park tree or limb that is not a hazard. It will be removed as time permits.
• Private trees: If a private tree or limb falls on public property, it will be moved so it is no longer a hazard and is the responsibility of the homeowner to have it removed. If a private tree falls on private property, again, it is the responsibility of the homeowner to have it removed. Please contact a private tree removal service.

Downed Power Lines
Anyone encountering a downed power line is urged to immediately call ComEd at 1-800-EDISON1 (1-800-334-7661).
Never approach a downed power line. Always presume a power line is energized and extremely dangerous.
