Rendell Massie, senior football running back from Evanston Township High School, was named first team All-State by the Illinois High School Coaches Association November 18th.  One of only 18 Class 8A players, Rendell was honored prior to the State Championship game on Nov. 27 at the University of Illinois (Champaign).

Massie was also named first-team All-Conference (Central Suburban League), two-time Sun-Times Star of the Week, and the CSL offensive player of the year.  With 15 touchdowns this season, Massie ran the ball for 1,484 yards on 213 carries, including a 311-yard performance vs. Niles West.  He had 30 total touchdowns in his high school career.

“Rendell has been an all-purpose leader for us the past two seasons,” says Evanston head coach Mike Burzawa.  “He’s an extremely gifted athlete who was able to do it all from the backfield – with his running and catching talent and ability to finish runs with the best of them.  Rendell is a humble young man who always puts his teammates first.  He’s been an outstanding role model for us at Evanston High School.”
