The City of Evanston’s Housing & Community Development Act Committee will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 2404 of the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive citizen comments on the proposed 2011 One Year Action Plan and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Budget for FY 2011, which begins March 1, 2011 and ends December 31, 2011. The One Year Action Plan will discuss the City’s plans for using federal entitlement funds from HUD in 2011.
The public hearing is part of the 30-day comment period, which opens December 6, 2010 and closes at 12 noon CST on January 4, 2011. Citizen comments will also be accepted in writing at the City of Evanston Planning and Zoning Division Office, Room 3000, Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Avenue, Evanston, Illinois 60201 and by e-mail at cdbg@cityofevanston.org.

2011 ONE YEAR ACTION PLAN
The One Year Action Plan will discuss the City’s plans for using federal entitlement funds from HUD in 2011. Funding recommendations are consistent with the City of Evanston’s priority needs as identified in the HUD 2010-2014 Consolidated Plan. The Consolidated Plan is the City of Evanston’s primary vehicle for identifying housing, community and economic development needs focusing primarily on low and moderate-income residents, using Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME), and the Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) funds. The statutory goals of the HUD Consolidated Plan are:
• To provide decent housing
• To provide a suitable living environment
• To expand economic opportunities.
