During its third annual coat drive to support the Evanston School Children’s Clothing Association (ESCCA), the North End Mothers Club collected over 100 coats and vests as well as hats, scarves and gloves. “We had a great number of Club members who donated coats this year at our November brunch” said Club President Paula Hays. “But even more gratifying was the response we received when we asked the parents of the students participating in our Fortnightly dance classes to donate coats” she continued. Giant decorated bins were placed at the dance class location during two different dance sessions and coats poured in. “It was great to see the Fortnightly parents get behind such a great organization like ESCCA. We’ll continue to ask for their support of our coat drive in the future” said Nicole Marks, Fortnightly Chairperson. On the morning the coats were delivered to the ESCCA headquarters, North End Mothers’ Club members were on hand to assist the ESCCA volunteers with sorti

ng and stocking the donations. It gave the members an opportunity to get a first hand look at ESCCA’s organization and mission. “We are pleased to be able to contribute to the work that ESCCA does to assure that Evanston school kids have proper clothing throughout the school year” said Hays. In addition to providing outer wear for Evanston children, ESCCA also provides shoes, pants, sweaters and shirts. Run completely by volunteers, ESCCA is always looking for gently used contributions of children’s clothing, sized for students in grades K-8. For more information on ESCCA go to www.escca.org.
