Scores of youths aged 14-18 attended the “Summer Camps Fair” sponsored by the Evanston Youth Job Center on Dec.1 at the Evanston Public Library
to submit an application.
The teens introduced themselves to 14 employers who operate summer tutoring programs, summer day camps or overnight camps.
The employers may then follow up with an interview.
“We hope to create job opportunities,” said Jordan Burghardt, employer outreach coordinator of YJC, adding that many employers came from areas outside Evanston – some from camps in Wisconsin and Michigan.
Some familiar names among the employers who attended the job fair include the Evanston, Ridgeville and Skokie Park Districts, YJC Summer Tutors and YMCA Camp Echo.
