The Public Interest Law Initiative honored Jonathan K. Baum with PILI’s Distinguished Public Service Award for his commitment to public interest work and his service-oriented legal career. Mr. Baum, an Evanston resident, is a partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, where he serves as director of Pro Bono Services. Mr. Baum, who has worked closely with PILI’s Pro Bono Initiative Program, has participated in public interest and pro bono legal work for decades. Before joining Katten Muchin Rosenman, Mr. Baum was a litigator at Jenner & Block and Sidley Austin. He served as a special cooperating counsel at the Roger Baldwin Foundation of the ACLU, and as a staff attorney and clinical fellow at the Edwin F. Mandel Legal Clinic of the University of Chicago Law School; he also clerked for the late Judge Bernard M. Decker of the Northern District of Illinois.
