Evanston residents are encouraged to recycle their old holiday string lights and extension cords at the Evanston Ecology Center or at the Evanston Public Library until January 31st. Garland, live greens, wreaths or other non-recyclables are not accepted in this program.

The lights are then recycled by the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County  of which the City of Evanston is a member.
