On Nov. 30, 82 Evanston Township High School juniors wrote an impromptu theme in 75 minutes on the following topic: “Choose a social issue that concerns you (such as poverty, inequality in the workplace, discrimination, disease, hunger, unemployment, etc.). Then choose an audience (peers, politicians, board of education, etc.) and bring your passion, problem-solving skills, and creativity to the discussion of steps that can be taken on a personal, regional or global level to address this concern.”

Five students – Erik Baker, Natalie Vanderlaan, Josiah Evans, Adam Warner-Rosen and Jeremy Layton – will represent ETHS at the next level of writing.
