For the seventh consecutive year, the Northwestern University Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music and WFMT-FM, 98.7 FM, will broadcast a weekly Sunday afternoon radio series showcasing Northwestern music faculty, ensembles, distinguished alumni and guest artists in performance and conversation.
The winter 2011 six-week “Music From Northwestern” series will air an hourlong show each Sunday at 4 p.m. through Feb. 6 on Chicago’s fine arts and classical music station. The series began on Jan. 2.
Currently serving the largest audience in its 50-year history, 98.7 WFMT is available to listeners worldwide via the station’s enhanced web streaming.
WFMT program host and Northwestern University alumnus Kerry Frumkin will host the broadcasts. Richard Van Kleeck, director of concert activities for the Bienen School of Music, is co-producer of this winter’s WFMT radio broadcasts along with Jesse McQuarters.
Details about the programs airing Jan. 9, 16, 23, 30 and Feb. 6 will be posted, as they become available, at www.pickstaiger.org/audio/special-events.
In addition to airing on WFMT and via streaming audio at www.wfmt.com, the complete six-week series of 2011 programs, as well as those of the previous six seasons, will eventually be available for streaming on demand by visiting the Pick-Staiger Concert Hall website’s streaming audio page at http://www.pickstaiger.org/audio.
