About 100 persons attended the kickoff party at Prairie Moon for Eileen Budde, one of six candidates for a position on the School District 65 Board. Ms. Budde and her husband Sean – a native Evanstonian – have three children in District 65. She has worked in banking for four years in New York and is an experienced math teacher. She is currently co-president of Nichols School PTA.
“In her very short time here in Evanston, Eileen has skyrocketed in her involvement – even by Evanston standards,” said Third Ward Alderman Melissa Wynne, who was Nichols PTA co-president with Ms. Budde last year. “She really inspired me with her skills as an organizer and an educator.”
Ms. Budde said she and her husband moved to Evanston because, “We knew our three daughters would have the kind of education we wanted for them. They would have teachers with high academic expectations and meet friends from diverse backgrounds.” She said she is running for School Board because she wants to ensure that current and future Evanston families can count on high quality education. She added, “The competition our children will face in college and in their careers is greater than ever, and I want our schools to prepare our children to meet these challenges.”
