The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Cook County North Suburban Chapter, will offer the Family-to-Family Education Program, a 12-week course for families of adult loved ones diagnosed with serious mental illness. The classes will be held on Saturdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave. Feb 5 – April 23.
This free course will be taught by trained family members who have lived the experience. Course topics include the major mental illnesses, treatments and medications, services available, communication and coping strategies.
A recent class member wrote, “This class helped us when we were in our darkest hours, lost and without support. The leaders were amazing – informative and compassionate, caring beyond my expectations.” Registration is available by calling NAMI, 847-716-2252.
