The City of Evanston, in partnership with the Evanston Art Center, is opening a new public art gallery at the Civic Center.
Gallery 4502 will open with its first show “The Grounded Gaze: Escape Through Landscape – An Exhibition of Landscape Inspired Paintings by Evanston Artists” with a reception on Friday January 28 at 5 p.m. at the gallery located on the fourth floor of the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Avenue. Exhibited artists include Maureen Crowley, Pat Hinkel, Arlene Kaplan, Lisa Loomis, Catherine McCullough, Vicki Rawlins, Nadine “Yadi” Royster and Noel Yovovich.
The exhibition was organized by Evanston Art Center Executive Director Norah Diedrich and City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz. The Evanston Art Center has agreed to organize three exhibits in 2011 at the new gallery featuring artists who live and/or work in Evanston. The new exhibit runs through April 29, 2011 and is accessible during regular City business hours. The opening of Gallery 4502 marks the beginning of a new effort by the City of Evanston to use the Civic Center as a place for more regular exhibits of local art.
