Editor:

I am whole-heartedly supporting Richard Rykhus for District 65 School Board in the upcoming election.  Richard has been a staunch advocate for the rights of children with special needs in District 65.  He is a member of the board of Evanston Citizens for Appropriate Special Education (CASE), of which I am the Founding Director.  Richard has spoken at school board meetings on many occasions regarding the metrics related to the District 65 budget, the Inclusion Plan, and the District’s 5 year Strategic Plan.  He is a well informed and involved member of the Evanston community.  When addressing the board he has been factual, calm, and collaborative.  He has a desire to improve the board’s governance and responsiveness to community concerns, and he will seek out responsible ways to resolve the complex issues facing our district.

Richard has considerable experience in a number of roles in the private sector related to education. His background in business and education will help him make tough decisions as he serves on the District 65 board.  He cares deeply about improving education for all children.  His family is the epitome of diversity and his life experience has contributed to his passion for social justice and educational excellence.

If you “Expect Excellence”, which is Richard’s campaign motto, I urge you to join me in supporting Richard Rykhus for District 65 School Board.  To learn more about his perspectives, please visit www.richardfordistrict65.com
