I am writing to express my support for Richard Rykhus who is running for District 65 School Board.  I first met Richard through Evanston Citizens for Appropriate Special Education, an advocacy group for parents and teachers of students with disabilities. Richard has impressed me from my first experience with him as someone who is very smart and very kind, someone who is calm and listens actively but also advocates firmly for fairness, respect, excellence and equality.

Richard has both the business experience as a director of corporate learning and the specialized education (a Masters in Education and Social Policy) to be a pragmatic financial manager while finding ways to make our classrooms and schools excel. Richard’s unique blend of financial and social organizational experience makes him a highly qualified addition to our Board.

Richard has been a constructive and dedicated participant in our community. He believes in the tremendous potential of all children and he will fight for our kids irrespective of advantage, race, gender or academic achievement.  He has profound respect for the role of teachers; his parents were both educators as is his husband Carlos. Richard speaks lovingly of our schools and our community and he wants to help D65 be an even better place for our kids than it is today. We are very fortunate that he is running for school board in District 65. Please give him your vote.
