Evanston Fire and Life Safety Services responded to a vehicle accident at the South Branch Library today, Jan. 31, said Fire Chief Greg Klaiber. It appears the driver of a van became unconscious and drove through the plate glass window of the library, he said. The driver of the van was treated with ALS care and was transported to Evanston Hospital. Chief Klaiber reported no one was inside the library at the time, and no one, except the driver, was injured.

The library is structurally sound and will have the window boarded up, added the Chief.
