Dear Editor:

I have lived in Evanston for more than 16 years and have for most of that time also worked here.  As director of the Evanston History Center, I have been exposed to a large number of Evanstonians who truly care abut their community and work hard to improve it.

Katie Bailey is one of these dedicated residents and she is running for a second term on the District 65 School Board.  Katie exemplifies what it means to care about Evanston. As a parent, she sees firsthand the need for cultivating better communication between teachers, administrators, parents and community leaders.  She listens, responds and is committed to improving our ability to serve all of the children in Evanston.

Positive leadership, good communication and fiscal responsibility are at the core of her ideas. Katie is a proven leader; she has shown this not only through her work on the school board, but also through her commitment to many local organizations.

We are fortunate that someone as talented and dedicated as Katie would like to serve a second term on the school board and we would be foolish not to take her up on her generous offer.  Please join me in voting for Katie on April 5.
