I write to recommend Richard Rykhus for the District 65 School Board.  I’ve known Mr. Rykhus since he was a very young child, and he has always been intelligent, serious, and steadfast.  As he matured into a young man, he learned from his educator parents the importance of educational leadership and how sound fiscal and managerial decisions affect each classroom.

His B.A. in Marketing was complemented by a graduate degree from Northwestern’s School of Education and Social Policy.  Classroom experiences always stand a school board member in good stead, and Richard has that, teaching his second major, which is Spanish.  He’s also a caring and committed parent of Ty’rith, who attends Dawes.

But it is Richard’s experience in strategic planning, finance, and technology capacity management that will be most valuable to District 65.  We need committed and capable board members who can analyze complex data and make sound decisions to benefit all students.  As an educator myself, with 33 years in the Department of English at Saginaw Valley State University, I wholeheartedly recommend Richard Rykhus for the District 65 Board of Education.
