Kindergarten Registration – Any child living in D65 who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1st is eligible to register for kindergarten. Kindergarten registration dates are as follows: March 1 (12 to 7pm) for families in the Dawes, Oakton, or Walker School attendance areas; March 2nd (12 to 7pm) for families in the Kingsley, Lincolnwood, Orrington, or Willard attendance areas; March 3rd (12 to 7pm) for families in the Dewey, Lincoln or Washington attendance areas. Families unable to register on the scheduled day may come on Friday, March 4th 7:00am to 11:00 am or call 847 492-5887 for an appointment.
African American Youth Achievement Awards, which recognizes select District 65 and District 202 students for their character, achievement, and citizenship, takes place Friday February 25th at Evanston Township High School – 6:00 pm Reception; 7:00 pm Program. The community-sponsored event, organized by Mary Wilkerson with support from Family Focus, Districts 65, ETHS, McGaw YMCA, First Bank & Trust of Evanston, Evanston NAACP and Northwestern University pays tribute to youth who are keeping alive the visions and legacy of African-American pathfinders and pioneers by excelling in the classroom and in extra-curricular activities.
Lincoln School’s Warm Up to the Arts — Saturday, February 26, 7:00 p.m. Don’t miss Lincoln’s annual fundraising event for cultural arts programming! This year’s event is taking place at the Firehouse Grill in Evanston. Tickets are $15 in advance/$25 at the door.

Orrington Elementary School PTA will recognize the school’s multiculturalism through its annual Ethnic Arts Festival, Thursday, February 24 at 6:00 p.m. in the gym. Parent volunteers from India, Japan, Greece, China, Germany, Israel and other countries will help students create colorful, hand-made crafts and introduce them to diverse traditions of children all over the world. A special guest from Evanston’s Mitchell Museum of the American Indian will also demonstrate Native American crafts.
