A 47-year old Skokie man died as a result of injuries sustained when his motor vehicle stuck the railroad embankment in the area of Oakton Street and Callan Avenue, said Commander Tom Guenther, public information officer of the Evanston Police Department. Preliminary investigation indicates the man was traveling east bound on Oakton Street and failed to negotiate the north bound turn, said the Commander. The motor vehicle struck the railroad embankment at a speed estimated to be higher than the posted speed limit for that section of the road, he said. The crash occurred on Feb. 23 at about 6 a.m.

An investigation is currently being conducted by the Evanston Police Department and the North Regional Major Crime Task Forces – Major Crash Assistance Team. The investigation will be pending Cook County Medical Examiners results.
