Dear editor,
I am writing to urge voters to support Eileen Budde, who is running for a seat on the District 65 School Board. Eileen is the parent of three District 65 children, an experienced math teacher, and a PTA president and volunteer. She has a master’s degree in math education.
Eileen is running for the school board because she wants to ensure that current and future Evanston families can count on a high quality education. She wants our local schools to prepare all of Evanston’s children to meet the challenges they will face as the world becomes increasingly competitive.
Eileen has run many PTA programs – a Spanish language enrichment program, a $45,000 Spring Festival fundraiser and the Fun Run at Dewey. As a volunteer, she has taught math enrichment to second-graders, read to children in the Books and Breakfast program at Dewey, and served as a room parent. She served as the Nichols PTA secretary, co-chaired a family fun night, and currently serves as a Nichols PTA president. Through these experiences she has gained insight into the competing demands on children, families, and teachers and will be a strong advocate of solutions that work for all.
Eileen will work cooperatively with other school board members to deal with the budget challenges and ever-increasing calls for better services in Evanston schools.
I hope you will go to the Civic Center and vote early for Eileen Budde. The election is April 5! You can learn more about Elieen at her website: http://eileenfordistrict65.com.
Thank you,
Nancy Traver
