I am writing today to encourage your support and vote for Richard Rykhus for District 65 School Board. After hearing Richard speak at a neighborhood coffee about his goals for the District, I am inspired by his commitment, his caring, and for the level of accountability he will bring to the Board. His education, business experience, and his sense of responsibility for the role of a school board member stand out.
Additionally, he understands the value of diversity in our community and his respect for all people, regardless of disability, race or economic background, is clear through his work advocating on behalf of special needs and creating safe schools for kids of all sexual orientations. Richard holds a strong value for education; he has a MA from Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy. He holds high ethical standards, and the desire to ensure that each of our kids reach their full potential, no matter what their circumstances.
My belief is that Richard will be a strong voice in support of appropriate board governance. He will contribute to the Board’s excellence by setting and expecting accountability through strong performance measures, and will engage in a truly collaborative approach to meeting the District’s challenges.
