With more than 60 swimmers participating over the past two weekends in the Illinois State Regional Championships and the Senior State Championships, the YWCA Evanston/Northshore Flying Fish swim team achieved 115 best times and best-in-show.
Swimmers who placed in the top eight in the Regionals are Armel Cazedepats (500 free, 2nd); Jake Girard (100 breast, 2nd); Amelia Girgenti (50 free, 1st, 100 free, 3rd); Jacqueline Glattard (100 breast, 8th, 200 fly, 2nd); Clay Hackley (200 back, 5th, 200 free, 6th6); Joe Hancuch (200 breast, 7th, 100 free, 8th); Illan Ireland (200 breast, 3rd); Ryan Knohl (500 free, 1st, 100 breast 6th, 200 back 1st, 100 back 2nd); Duncan Martinson (100 free, 4th, 200 IM 8th); Cole Morgan (200 breast 8th, 100 breast, 6th); Emma Myers (200 breast, 6th); Karl Ortegon (200 breast, 8th); Nicky Rejebian (200 fly 8th); Chris Russo (200 free, 7th, 100 free, 4th); Topher Shepherd (50 free, 6th, 200 IM 3rd, 200 free, 3rd, 100 free, 6th, 100 IM, 8th); Christian Stankovic ( 1,000 free, 1st, 200 back, 8th); and Ana Woods (100 fly, 4th).
Senior Champs who placed in the top eight are Nick Killeen (200 free 8th, 500 free 5th, 200 fly 4th); Blake Morgan (1,000 free 7th, 1,650 free, 7th); CJ Smith (1,000 free, 2nd, 500 free, 4th, 1,650 free, 2nd).
New Team Records were set by CJ Smith in the 1,000 free, by Amanda Weidner in the 500 free and by Lucy Myers in the 200 fly.
Age-groups champs are Ana Woods, Cole Morgan, Ryan Knohl, Clay Hackley, Duncan Martinson, Jake Girard, Christian Stankovic, Joe Hancuch, Daisy Chaudruc, Mary Claire D’Arrigo and Rowan Henke. Three in the junior nationals are CJ Smith, Nick Killeen and Blake Morgan.
