The Evanston Public Library invites submissions to the 33rd annual Jo-Anne Hirshfield Memorial Poetry Awards, judged this year by Janet Wong.
The competition is open to all adult and high-school-age Chicago-area poets. There are also elementary- and middle-school student categories open to Evanston school students. The competition deadline is March 25. The awards will be presented at 2 p.m. on May 1, when the competition winners will read their poems. Ms. Wong will also read from her own works.
