We know Katie Bailey as both a friend and fellow community volunteer. It was thanks in large part to her example and urging that we served as PTA presidents at Dewey School and became actively involved with the Nichols PTA and several local organizations, including Foundation 65, EBSA, and ESCCA. Katie’s enthusiasm is contagious, but we’ve yet to match her energy and ability to get things done.

For the past four years, Katie has worked as a tireless and dedicated member of the District 65 School Board. In addition to her other board duties, she has served as chair of the finance, policy, and green committees. She was instrumental in completing a comprehensive strategic plan for the district, implementing data-driven teacher evaluations, making college and career readiness a priority, and introducing environmentally sustainable practices at our schools. Katie listens carefully, learns quickly, and can grasp complex issues and data–essential skills of an effective school board member.

More than that, she truly cares. Katie regularly attends school events throughout the district–cultural celebrations, PTA meetings, award ceremonies–and has a great time doing so. She makes a point to return emails and phone calls and is always happy to talk about people’s concerns. Serving on the D65 board has become an integral part of her life, and our community has benefited enormously from her passion.

Katie has a sharp mind, an open heart, and great ideas for taking our school district forward. Please join us in supporting her for a second term.
