The sixth Annual Northwestern University (NU) 5K Race for Diversity will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The race will take place on the Lakefront of Northwestern University’s Evanston campus at 1999 Campus Drive, behind the Norris Center. The proceeds from this event will fund an annual scholarship which allows financially challenged African-American students to attend Northwestern University.

The event is a certified 5K run and walk event which starts at NU’s South Campus, heads north along Lake Michigan and crosses south through campus to the finish line. The event is open to the general public, NU alums, undergraduate students and those interested in promoting a healthy lifestyle. Kids can join in by participating in a one mile race!

The fee is $25.00 and online registration is available now at alumni.northwestern.edu/nubaa  and on-site the day of the race which will begin at 7:45 AM.

This event promotes the idea of a diverse society which will make a better world for all. The race also promotes living a healthy lifestyle through exercise. Even if you don’t run, this is a very interesting and fun course for those who love walking.

Sponsors for the event are the Northwestern Alumni Association, (NAA), Northwestern University Black Alumni Association (NUBAA), For Members Only (FMO), Hecky’s Barbeque, FG Commercial Real Estate, Moka Marketing, Redefine the Tee, Ja Grill Jamaican Restaurant and Powers & Jennings Marketing Inc.
