To the Editor:

I am writing to support incumbent Katie Bailey, who is running for re-election to the District 65 School Board.

Katie Bailey, who has served on the board for the past several years, is a mother of four Evanston-educated children, with an extensive professional background in marketing and analysis (and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business). I have had the pleasure of knowing Katie since my first year in Evanston, when my eldest son Jacob met her youngest son Sam in kindergarten. Since then, I have greatly enjoyed not only a delightful friendship, but her marvelous leadership in the PTA and community activities such as the Evanston Baseball & Softball Association (EBSA).

I can always trust Katie to consider as many sides of an issue as possible, while keeping a great sense of humor and balance. It’s easy to admire her extraordinary contributions to the school board (finance committee, green committee, and heaven only knows how many others), but probably my favorite thing about having this friend on the board is that I am proud to say that she responds to anybody’s concerns and questions, regardless of their position on a particular concept or issue. Her open communication policy truly makes me feel that, whether or not you know her personally, you will always be heard.

Katie has a commitment to our district that transcends typical schedules and belies the fact that this is a volunteer gig. We couldn’t be more fortunate that she is willing to run to re-election. I hope that you will join me in voting for Katie to continue her wonderful service to our district by voting for her to continue on the board for another term.

Kind regards,
