The Youth Job Center of Evanston will hold its annual benefit Gala on May 7th featuring dinner, live music, a silent auction and a raffle. Dale T. Mortensen, 2010 Nobel Prize winner in economics, Northwestern University, will be recognized at the Youth Job Center’s annual gala for his contribution to employment and workforce development. Dr. Mortensen’s research focuses on labor economics, macroeconomics and economic theory. He received the Nobel Prize in recognition of his work explaining WHY unemployment and job vacancies coexist and HOW wages and employment are affected by regulation and policy.
The gala begins with a 6:30pm cocktail hour and silent auction with dinner and the program following at 8:00pm. Tickets are $150. Location: Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago. The Youth Job Center is a nonprofit agency in Evanston that assists job seekers ages 14-25 in finding employment. The YJC also works with employers to help them meet their staffing needs by referring applicants who are trained in basic job skills and ready to get to work.
