Andrew Krugly, the principal at Dewey Elementary School, was reassigned last week to District 65’s central administration office. Interim principal Patricia Mitchell, who has been filling in for Mr. Krugly during an absence, will serve as interim principal for the remainder of the year. The District will begin to search for a new principal for the school.
Superintendent Hardy Murphy announced the changes to parents who all but filled Dewey’s auditorium on March 23. On advice of counsel, Dr. Murphy declined to go into the details underlying the decision to reassign Mr. Krugly. He said an official concern had been registered through the teachers’ union.
Mr. Krugly, who was principal at Dewey for 13 years, said in a letter to Dewey parents “just because accusations are made does not make them true.”
