The City of Evanston will be contracting road resurfacing work on Emerson Street and Isabella Street on April 18. The Isabella St. portion of this project is a joint project with Village of Wilmette; and the City of Evanston will be the lead agency.
This project involves sewer repair, spot curb replacement, base patching, selected sidewalk replacement, driveway aprons, grinding & paving asphalt surface, striping and landscaping. The roadwork is a part of the city’s continuing program to improve the road system throughout the community. The project is state funded and there will be no direct charge to the property owners on this project.
The map here>>> illustrates the specific locations which have been included as a part of this project. Construction will begin the week of April 18 with the entire project expected to be fully completed by mid June. The actual date when construction is planned for the various areas will be noted on the temporary NO PARKING signs posted 48 hours prior to the start of work. The construction activities will create some inconvenience for abutting residents, but workers will attempt to minimize these problems.
Construction zone daytime “NO PARKING” restrictions will be in effect for the duration of the project. The evening and nighttime parking (5:00pm to 7:00am) will always be available. Street sweeping and/or neighborhood parking restrictions will be waived for a one block radius of the construction zone when temporary daytime NO PARKING is in effect. We encourage residents to adhere to street cleaning regulations where possible.
The contractor for this street improvement is Chicagoland Paving Contractors, Inc., located at 225 Telser Road in Lake Zurich, IL 60047.
The project is under the supervision of the City of Evanston’s Division of Transportation. The Resident Engineer in the field will be Michael Carrara. He will be directly responsible for all aspects of the construction. If you should have any questions or concerns, please contact the Resident Engineer at 847/ 980-3400. Questions about the street resurfacing projects in general should be directed to Sat Nagar, P.E., Senior Engineer at 847/ 866-2967.
