Over the next 12 weeks the City will be contracting water main replacement and roadway work on the four (4) street sections listed below. This project includes the replacement of the existing deteriorated water main with new ductile iron pipe as well as replacement of the existing water services.
The street resurfacing portion of the project involves curb replacement as needed, roadway base repair, replacement of asphalt surface from curb to curb, along with selected sidewalk replacement and driveway aprons. The water main work and street resurfacing are part of the City’s continuous program to renovate and improve the water distribution system and roadways throughout the community.
The funding for the water main portion of the project will be from the City’s Water Fund and funding for road work is from the GO Bond Fund. There will be no direct charge to the property owners.
The map here>>> illustrates the specific locations which have been included as a part of this project and in the following sequence of construction:
- Lee Street from McDaniel Avenue to Pitner Avenue
- Grey Avenue from Church Street to Emerson Street
- Marcy Avenue from Grant Street to Colfax Street
- Hovland Court from Church Street to Emerson Street
Construction will begin the week of May 2nd on Lee Street with the entire project expected to be fully completed by early August. The actual date when construction is planned for your street will be noted on the temporary NO PARKING signs posted 48 hours prior to the start of work. There will be “No Parking any time” on Marcy Avenue during construction. The construction activities will create some inconvenience for the abutting residents, but we will attempt to minimize these problems. The street sweeping and/or neighborhood parking restrictions will be waived for a one block radius of the construction zone.
