Diadem Jewelers, 1613 Sherman Ave., was robbed at gunpoint on April 26 at about 11:15 a.m., said Commander Tom Guenther, public information officer of the Evanston Police Department. 

According to the victim, who was minding the store, a thirty-year old male entered the store, brandished a handgun and announced the robbery, said Comdr. Guenther. The robber then used flexible plastic bindings to secure the victim’s hands, then removed jewelry from display cases, placing these items into a gym bag and backpack. The robber left the store through a rear door and fled on foot. A short while later a person looked into the store, noticed the victim, who was still bound, and notified police. 

According to the victim the robber is described as a male black, 30 years of age, 250 lbs. 6’0” in height, wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, scarf, black leather coat, dark jeans and dark gym shoes, said the Commander. 

Evanston Detectives are conducting interviews and collecting evidence, including video surveillance of the robbery. Anyone having information regarding the identity of the offender depicted, should contact the Evanston Police Departments’ Detective Bureau at; 847-866-5040.
