Residents of Evanston and Rogers Park are now able to appeal their 2011 property assessment to the Cook County Assessor. The deadline for appeal is June 13, 2011. Click here for more information on the appeals process.
Commissioner Suffredin encourages all Evanston and Rogers Park property owners to take advantage of this opportunity to correct any assessment errors. Unless a homeowner recently received a notice of reassessment, assessed valuations have not increased from the 2010 levels.
Homeowners can submit an appeal of their 2011 assessment (for taxes payable in 2012) to the Cook County Assessor if they believe their assessed value is too high, or if they have other issues concerning their property assessment.
Commissioner Suffredin is offering assistance in filing an appeal and answering questions about the appeals process.
Homeowners should call his district office at 847-864-1209 with any questions or to schedule an appointment for assistance with filing an appeal. Questions about the reassessment notice and appeal process can also be directed to Assessor Berrios’ office at 312-603-5300.
