Hundreds of community members turned out for the annual Relay for Life of Evanston, held at Evanston Township High School on May 21.

The relay brings the community together to celebrate the lives of those who have cancer, remember loved ones lost to the disease, honor caregivers and to fight back against the disease. While the relay, which runs through the night, is usually held outside, this year the event was moved into the field house because of threatening rain. An estimated $45,000 was raised through the event. Funds go to provide support services for area patients, cancer research and community education programs.
