A workshop series providing practical tools for conducting constructive, non-combative conversations when interacting with others is coming to Unity on the North Shore.
The studies, scheduled for four consecutive Sunday afternoons beginning July 10, are based on the work of Marshall B. Rosenberg and the Center for Nonviolent Communication www.cnvc.org. Carolyn Blum, M.S., a nonviolent communications practitioner, will work with individuals and couples as workshop mediator and coach. Entitled Deepening Connection in Your Conversations by Understanding Your Inner Landscape, the workshop uses demonstrations and practice to develop self-awareness of one’s inner experiences. The sessions teach how to keep intense conversations centered while expressing one’s own thoughts effectively and connecting more deeply with others.
“This approach,” says Unity on the North Shore pastor Kurt Condra, “offers more choices in how to respond to others. It can eliminate reactions one might later regret, and help avoid having the same frustrating conversation over and over.”
The four workshop sessions will run from 12:30-2:30 on July 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st at Unity on the North Shore, 3434 Central St., Evanston, IL 60201. Suggested offering is $20 for per session or $70 for the entire series. Attendance can be confirmed via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Unity on the North Shore’s mission is to provide practical, spiritual teachings to people of all faiths and empower them to live healthy, prosperous and meaningful lives.
