This summer’s festivals get underway this weekend, with Custer’s Last Stand Festival of the Arts, June 18-19, followed by the Fountain Square Art Festival, June 25- 26.

Celebrate the 4th of July at Evanston’s Independence Day Celebration. The parade starts at 2 p.m. at Central Park Avenue and travels east on Central Street to Ryan Field. The day’s festivities culminate with lakefront fireworks at 9:15 p.m. at Dawes Park.

The 26th annual Evanston Ethnic Arts Festival will take place July 16-17, and the 39th annual Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival is scheduled for August 6-7. Downtown Evanston‘s It’s Thursday provides music and dance with six shows beginning on July 14. The Ridgeville Park District is also presenting a series of summer programs.
