Citizens’ Greener Evanston announced the 10 winners of its first juried environmentally themed photo contest and displayed the photographs at the Custer Street Fair on June 18-19. They are now on display indefinitely at the Evanston Ecology Center.

Submissions were made by 22 people, 19 of whom were Evanston residents. The more than 80 photos illustrate interactions – both positive and negative – between humans and nature. Each first-place winner was awarded of a $50 cash prize.

Winners in the category “Photos Taken in Evanston” by an artist over 18 years old were “Clearing Storm Over Lake Michigan-97” by Matt Dinerstein; “Magic Greenhouse” by Kimberly Jones; “The Song of Spring” by Ting Zhou and “Blizzard of 2011-26” by Matt Dinerstein.

For the category “Photos Taken Outside of Evanston” by an artist over 18 years old: “Summer’s Forest” by Evy Briggs; “Untitled” by Neal Moglin; “Crayfish” by Ann Baker; “Posts” by Mary Ann Grumman; ”Skokie Preserved” by Evy Briggs.

For the category “Photos Taken Outside of Evanston” by an artist under 18 years old: “Untitled” by Madeline Frank.

Jurors were Paul Clark, Chris Schneberger and Paul Berlanga.
