On June 24, at approximately 2 a.m., Evanston Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 1800 block of Lyons. Police officers located the victim, who had sustained a single gun shot wound to his right thigh, said Commander Tom Guenther, public information officer of the Evanston Police Department.

The victim said he was talking with someone when they were approached by an unknown male subject, wearing a mask and dark clothing. The offender told the victim, “This is a robbery, give me your shoes,” and he also ordered the victim to remove his hoody, which contained a cell phone.

A verbal argument ensued between the victim and the offender, which resulted in the offender producing a handgun and shooting the victim once in the right thigh. The offender fled, taking the victim’s hoody and cell phone.

Evanston Police Detectives are conducting interviews and following up all possible leads.
