An Evanston man, 46 years, has been charged with one felony count of burglary to a motor vehicle that occurred on May 9, said Commander Tom Guenther, public information officer of the Evanston Police Department.
Initial information indicated that the offender had been observed in a vehicle that was parked in the alley in the 1300 block of Hinman Avenue, said the Commander. Witnesses observed the man remove a 5 gallon gas can from the vehicle. When the offender was confronted by a witness, the offender fled on foot, said the Commander.
Evanston police detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and identified a person of interest. This person was identified as the offender in a line up, said the Commander.
