The fall season is right around the corner and with it comes the annual problem of what to do with the fallen leaves. While residents can either bag them in special yard waste bags with a yard waste sticker affixed to it or use their yard waste carts, they can also compost their leaves and other items.

To facilitate composting, the city’s Public Works department is offering Evanston residents repurposed 95 gallon garbage containers as compost bins. Composting allows your household to reduce the amount of food and yard waste that would normally go into a landfill by instead turning these materials into fertilizer. The City has over two hundred of these compost bins that are available to residents and no charge while supplies last. More>>>
