The City of Evanston will focus its efforts from now until September 22nd on getting feedback from residents about the Fiscal Year 2012 budget. During this time, the city is asking residents to submit their comments and take a budget survey. Currently, the City of Evanston is facing a budget deficit of about $2.1 million for Fiscal Year 2012 and a projected deficit of $3.9 million for Fiscal Year 2013.
Engage Evanston is a community outreach initiative intended to give residents an opportunity to help shape budget priorities. The first phase of Engage Evanston ran from May 1 to May 7, 2011 and residents were asked to submit their ideas for generating non-tax revenue and containing costs. Those ideas can be accessed here>>>
Take the Survey
Now the city is asking residents to continue to be engaged in the budget process by taking an online survey and submitting their comments. Residents can take the budget survey on line at www.cityofevanston.org/engage or pick-up a paper copy at one of our libraries, community centers or at our police station starting September 6. Paper surveys can be turned in at any of the before mentioned sites during normal business hours or mailed back to the City Manager’s Office, Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., Evanston, IL 60201.
