The Evanston Police Department will be conducting a roadside safety check beginning on Friday Sept. 2, from 10 p.m. to Saturday Sept. 3 at 4 a.m., said Commander James Elliot. The safety check will be conducted in a high volume traffic area within the City of Evanston, he said.
The objectives of the Roadside Safety Check are designed to reduce traffic crashes and the liability associated with violations of vehicular safety laws.
“Our goal is to detect and enforce violations associated with impaired driving, as well as any occupant restraint violations,” said Cmdr. Elliot. “Additional enforcement activities will focus on compliance with the Illinois driver license statutes, liability insurance compliance, and other vehicle statutes and/ or ordinances.”
