Citizens’ Greener Evanston will hold an artists reception for their Third Annual Green Arts Show from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18 in the Upstairs Gallery of the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.
The juried exhibit features over 20 talented visual and performing artists whose work reflects or promotes more sustainable ways of living. Green Arts Show promises to be a lively, unique event with artwork judged on artistic merit and use of concepts or materials that promote awareness of green and sustainable ways of living.
Featured guest artist Nancy Judd of Recycle Runway will attend the reception and display the dress she will be creating out of shopping bags from various Evanston businesses. Her work was recently accepted into the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. Judd’s iconic fashion creations are meticulously crafted of reclaimed materials and have gained national attention by raising awareness of environmental issues in a light-hearted way.
Jurying the exhibited works are Nora Dietrich, Director of the Evanston Art Center; Harvey Pranian of Harvey Antiques; and Joanna Pinsky of Art Encounter. Exhibition dates are September 18-25, 2011.
