The Childcare Network of Evanston (CNE) will hold its 13th annual benefit, a “Block Party,” on Saturday, October 22 at the Woman’s Club of Wilmette, 930 Greenleaf Avenue, Wilmette. The Block Party event will raise funds to help build strong foundations for the youngest and most vulnerable members of the communities that CNE and Early Head Start serves – Evanston, Lincolnwood, Skokie, Wilmette, Winnetka, Morton Grove, Northfield, and Northbrook. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the evening’s festivities will include food and wine, games and auction, and a special performance by Acts Of Kindness Cabaret. Highlighting the evening will be the video premiere of “CNE” and the presentation of CNE’s annual Hand-in-Hand Award to The Woman’s Club of Evanston. This award honors a local organization’s commitment to and recognition of the importance of early childhood education and quality care in the community.
For over 40 years, CNE has been the community resource building strong foundations for young children through access to high quality early education and family support. In December of 2009, CNE received $1.7 million through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act and CNE’s “block” began to grow bigger. While “Evanston” is part of the original name of the organization, CNE has grown beyond its Evanston boundaries to serve 202 eligible infants, toddlers, and pregnant women on the North Shore. Funds raised at the October 22nd benefit will help to provide early childhood education scholarships for working families in Evanston and its surrounding communities as well as bring much needed support to other CNE and Early Head Start programs.
