State Representative Robyn Gabel, in conjunction with the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) will be hosting a phone and utility bill clinic in Evanston to help consumers cut their utility costs. The clinic will be held on Oct. 12, at 9:30 a.m. to 11a.m., at the Levy Center, 300 Dodge Ave. Attendees must bring their phone and utility bills so CUB experts can analyze them and give cost-cutting tips.

Consumers frequently complain that they can’t get reliable information from the phone or utility company. At CUB’s clinics, however, citizens will receive helpful tips about:

*The CUB Cellphone Saver,, a state-of-the art online tool that automatically analyzes individual wireless bills.

*Illinois’ best long-distance plans, including how to get an automatic $10 credit negotiated by CUB.

*Have the opportunity to enroll in the CUB Energy Saver, a program that monitors your efforts to reduce energy consumption by rewarding points that can be redeemed for discounts and coupons at area businesses.

Persons who are not able to attend in person can still join Rep. Gabel’s “Green Team” online. Sign up is free. Consumers should have their ComEd bills with them when they sign up, at Members of the “Green Team” who build a money-saving plan for their homes will be able to see how much money and electricity they are saving individually and as a team.
