The Evanston Public Library’s digital book collection is now compatible with the Amazon Kindle, a long-anticipated feature that allows Library users the ability to borrow eBooks using Kindle devices and Kindle apps on iPhone, iPad, Android, and other mobile devices. These FREE Kindle eBooks can be easily accessed through the Library’s digital books catalog, My Media Mall, at www.mymediamall.net.
Library user Elizabeth DeCoster said, “Thanks for your straightforward directions regarding downloading materials from My Media Mall to my Kindle. I was really excited to see the blog post with the link to the directions, and pleased to discover how quick and easy the process is!”
All one needs is a valid Evanston Public Library card, an account with Amazon.com, any generation Kindle device, and a brief Internet connection- via your Kindle’s Wi-Fi connection or via a computer (if one must transfer an eBook to Kindle via USB). Patrons can check up to five digital books at a time (includes all formats) for a week or two, depending on preference. The best part is that patrons save gas, time and money because digital books never need to be physically returned to the Library – they simply expire.
The Library’s vast assortment of eBooks includes thousands of titles in fiction, non-fiction, youth, classics and more. By offering Kindle compatibility, the Library aims to further reach its goal to educate, engage, and empower Evanston residents through its resources, services, and programs.
