Twenty-five Illinois companies and organizations, including the City of Evanston, have been honored for their significant achievements in protecting the environment, helping sustain the future and improving the economy. The Governor’s Sustainability Awards were presented by the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (ISTC) during an October luncheon in Champaign. ISTC is a unit of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois.
Governor Pat Quinn congratulated Catherine Hurley, Sustainable Programs Coordinator and Suzette Robinson, director of public works on their achievements.
“We feel honored to be recognized by the governor for the City’s sustainable practices. I share this recognition with the entire City because sustainability in Evanston is truly an all-hands initiative that includes all City departments, elected officials, residents and businesses,” said Ms. Robinson, on receiving the award.
